“It’s not easy (or maybe not POSSIBLE) to get secondary data to use in market research projects.”
This is one of the key challenges for researchers when conducting research in Cambodia. Compared to other developed countries, there are just not many sources of secondary data available that can be accessed or that appropriate for a specific Cambodia-specific project. Sometimes necessary secondary data can be found via through online search or in Cambodian government ministries.Unfortunately in the case of government ministry sourcing, the data is too general, less appropriate or in some cases out of date.
Another consideration in getting secondary data from the government sources is the length of time and the effort involved in researching where the best point of ministry contact is and how to approach them.
Also many of the ministries are just now transitioning from their historical paper-based systems. This further complicates matters and can extend the timing of any access.
